This week the Parish lost a dear volunteer. Her name is Nancy Daws. She used to decorate the alter all year round. At the Holiday seasons, she would chose an exquisite theme for the decoration. Her preferred colors of roses were the color of Yellow and its different shades. All of us parishioners mourned her. But she died at the spot which she loved most, right at the foot of the alter where she loved to decorate. At the funeral the family gave away a packet of tissue paper with the following inscriptions: "Dry your eyes, cry no more. I'll wait for you at Heavens door." May the Lord rest her soul in PEACE. Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, it is not pompous, It is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick-tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrongdoing but rejoices with the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love. (From the letter of St. Paul to the Corinthians) (Feb 3, 2010) |

Lina and Salud of our parish have made a cactus garden next to Stroup Hall. It is in your memory and the memory of Nancy Daws. Here is a photo of the garden (March 25, 2010) |

Sister Maria sent me these good words written by "Henri Nouwen":
Hope and faith will both come to an end when we die. But love will remain. Love is eternal. Love comes from God and returns to God. When we die, we will lose everything that life gave us except love. The love with which we lived our lives is the life of God within us. It is the divine, indestructible core of our being. This love not only will remain but will also bear fruit from generation to generation. When we approach our deaths let us say (like Jesus) to those we leave behind, "Don't let your heart be troubled. The love of God that dwells in my heart will come to you and offer you consolation and comfort." ---Henri Nouwen (May 18, 2010) |

Today is your birthday. We are having a mass at the 6:30 AM in your memory. After that, we will visit your niche in the cemetery and remember the good times we had together on this day. On Sunday August 8 at the 7:30 AM mass, I was asked to speak to the parishioners about "Eucharistic Ministry". You can read it here: My name is Joseph Iskandar. I am here to speak to you about the "Eucharistic Ministry". "The Eucharistic Ministery" is the Service at the Lord’s Reconciling Table. It is the living bread and wine for everyone. "The Eucharistic Ministers" are hosts and servants at the Eucharistic banquet. They are called to take on Christ’s likeness. They accomplish this by strengthening their faith from within and sharing it with the faithful at communion time. You might ask "Why Should I Participate?" To understand why one should become a Eucharistic Minister, it is important to reflect on these words quoted in the Eucharistic Minister Handbook: “Yours is a share in the work of the Lord’s Spirit who makes of us one bread, one body, the cup of blessing. Yours is a work of ministering Christ’s body and blood to the body of Christ, the Church. You minister holy food to holy people in the holiest of all communions." Is there any Skills Needed? You must have a desire to serve your fellow parishioners. You must be physically able to ascend the steps of the sanctuary, stand at the altar and be able to hold a ciborium or chalice while distributing the Eucharist. The Eucharistic Ministry is never self-seeking but it is GIVING. I have been a Eucharistic Minister for the last eight years. I find it very satisfying, and fulfilling my desire to serve the Lord. How do I become a Eucharistic minister? If you would like to sign up for the Eucharistic Ministry, please see Judy Proietto, the Eucharistic Ministry Coordinator at the Ministry Fair. The dates of the Ministry Fair are Sept. 25 and 26 following all the masses in Stroup Hall. Thank you for listening and Have a pleasant Sunday. (August 25, 2010) |

This is the ninth Anniversary of your departure from this world. We miss you a lot. Today we will have a mass in your memory at Our Lady of Lourdes church. This year your cousin Benny and his family are visiting us. They will attend mass with us. After mass we will visit the cemetery and we will place flowers in your vase. We will pray for peace in the world and for your eternal life with Our Lord in Heaven. We love you. I would like you to read this piece "Ecclesiastes 3:1-8" from the bible: To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (September 11, 2010) |
